Indians don't date

Wait a minute, what?

Simpleous is an Indian dating site, the business revolves around matching two individuals who share some commonalities and presumably want to date once successfully matched. Yet the claim is Indians don't date?!

Yes, let me clarify my point. Indians don't date in the traditional sense of dating. We're pretty straight to the point when it comes to our love life.  It really is a 3 step process for us (explained later)

*note -This is from a perspective of a woman but men are the exact same way.

Before I go any further I need to state the following for all the non-Indian readers, please please unlearn the concept of arranged marriage as it's been explained to you. We actually do get to see our to be spouse before the marriage!

A non-Indian will typically agree that this is the general process of getting to know someone
  1. Meet, Introduced by friends, Dating site
  2. Talking - Butterflies, partying, dinners and going out.
  3. Introductions - introduce him to friends and see what they think.
  4. Dating - Starting to determine if he is someone I can spend the rest of my life with.
  5. Serious - OK he is great and needs to meet my family.
  6. Engaged
  7. Married
For an Indian the process looks like this
  1. Meet or Introduced by friends, Family introductions, Matrimonial (at simpleous we will have nothing to do with that word) sites.
  2. Seriously Talking - Butterflies, going out, analyzing if my family will be comfortable with him.
  3. Dating
  4. Serious
  5. Engaged - Introduce him to friends. Yes lot's of us meet our friend's fiance for the first time at the engagement.
  6. Married

All Indian's reading this know it! Let me break it down
  • Indians have more channels through which we can be introduced than anyone on the planet. The moment we graduate every uncle, auntie and parent is telling us to get married and how they know someone who would be the perfect match for us. Not to mention, our parents have already been looking for us since we were 18. If all that fails we have a large family waiting in India to introduce us.
  • When we decide to talk to someone, we are seriously talking. Rest assured we have figured out what your mom, dad, sister, and grandparents do! If he is someone we met through parents then can cancel out seriously talking, because we're planning our engagement! That obviously is a tongue in cheek remark but it's not far from the truth either.

Next time you are "dating" an Indian you're not dating, you're either seriously talking or about to be engaged....

happy dating
